2012 SonVida Cabernet Sauvignon Mendoza - 90 PTS - WE

wine enthusiast 90 pts"Lightly baked, rooty aromas of berry fruits come with notes of charcoal and toast. This is layered, deep and creamy in feel, with firm tannins waiting in the wings. Ripe berry and cassis flavors mixed with notes of tobacco and carob finish with nutmeg, chocolate and other flavors from the bake shop. Drink through 2020. - Michael Schachner"

2015 SonVida Cabernet Sauvignon Mendoza - 89 PTS - VINOUS

vinous logo"(14% alcohol): Good medium red. Musky redcurrant, clove, mocha and soil on the nose, plus a whiff of mesquite-grilled steak. Plush, broad and nicely concentrated, and a bit darker on the palate than it is on the nose, offering hints of cassis and licorice. The dry finish features a firm tannic spine. This may yet expand in bottle. - Stephen Tanzer"

wa"The harmonious and classical 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon might not be a fashionable wine, but it feels very honest, somehow old style and traditional, balanced, smooth, focused and clean. It has some 10% Syrah in the blend. It has bright flavors, young and fruit-driven, still very young and primary. Seeing how the 2015 Malbec is aging, I wouldn't be worried to lay the bottles for another couple of years; this Cab has the stuffing and balance. It has moderate alcohol and good freshness and comes through as balanced and gentle. 6,000 bottles produced. - Luis Gutiérrez"

tim atkin logo 250"There's even less of David Smith's Cabernet Sauvignon than there is of his equally impressive Malbec, but this is a spicy, refined example that shows the classic structure and chalky minerality of Paraje Altamira, with a core of bramble and blackcurrant fruit and deftly interwoven oak."
