2018 Chavy-Chouet Bourgogne Rouge La Taupe - 89 PTS - VINOUS

vinous logo"The 2018 Bourgogne Rouge La Taupe comes from 50- to 60-year-old vines and is completely de-stemmed. It offers blackberry and raspberry fruit on the nose, which is fresh and full of joie-de-vivre. The palate delivers crunchy black fruit, bilberry and hints of mulberry, touches of iodine appearing on the chunky finish. This is everything you want from a Bourgogne Rouge. - Neal Martin"

2023 Chavy-Chouet Bourgogne Rouge La Taupe - 91 PTS - JD

jeb dunnuck logo 250"Ripe redcurrants, rose petals, baking spices, and assorted warm, earthy notes all emerge from the 2023 Bourgogne Rouge La Taupe, a medium-bodied red Burgundy that's balanced and has a layered, tight, grippy mouthfeel, integrated acidity, and a great finish. It's beautifully done, and I'd certainly happily drink a bottle. It goes to show that there are still plenty of beautiful wines at reasonable prices in Burgundy today. This should have 7-8 years of longevity, and it will probably be better this time next year. I think the 2023 is a solid step up over the more forward, charming 2022. Drink 2026-2033."
