Bodegas Ladron de Lunas
Spain - Valencia

Bodegas Ladron de Lunas is the producer for the Miñaxoia brand.

the name emerged during a pivotal night on March 21, 2004, when members of the Martinez's Family, all winemakers met to conceptualize a premium wine. They selected the best grapes from each vineyard and harvested them by moonlight to preserve maximum freshness. The symbolic act of “stealing the best grapes under the moon” inspired the name Ladrón de Lunas (“Moon Thief”) for the wine and later for the winery itself. Meaning: The name evokes night-time harvesting, artisanal care, and the poetic idea of capturing the moon’s essence in each grape.

The history of Ladrón de Lunas is deeply rooted in a long‑standing winemaking tradition in Requena, shaped by several generations of wine‑growing families. Over the last century, different members of the Martínez lineage introduced significant innovations in viticulture and winemaking—such as the adoption of new grape varieties, improvements in technology, and pioneering contributions to the region’s wine culture. Francisco Martínez Bermell, grandfather of the current enologist, was a key figure who created the first great Valencian crianza wine and helped promote the Requena Harvest Festival, a legacy that remains central to the winery’s philosophy today. Historical records also show that the family has been involved in the wine trade since the late 19th and early 20th centuries, expanding into distillation, introducing foreign varieties, and implementing modern winemaking technologies long before they became common in the area
