The brewery was established in 2011. We are a proud malt-driven brewery located in Tower Grove South, St. Louis, Mo.
Friends Jake Hafner, Dylan Mosley and Mike Bianco founded The Civil Life Brewing Co. when they converted a 1950's warehouse into a traditional European styled pub. We are strong believers in the restorative nature of sessionable ales modeled on the classics from Germany, England and America. Our flagship beer is our American Brown but we offer a wide variety of beers annually by utilizing up to seven different yeast strains. Each winter we produce a few 6.5% in our "Big Series" beers. Our staff consumes copious amounts of our beer, the volume of beer left is put up for sale to the public. In 2014 we had enough Rye Pale left after our staff party that we submitted it the Great American Beer Festival and won a gold medal!
The Civil Life has 125 American made solar panels installed on our roof that produce between 30 and 35% of our power. It helps power our 20 Barrel Brewhouse. In 2014 the brewery produced 3000 barrels.
Each year on our anniversary at the end of September we release a new logo after the tongue in cheek State of the Beer Union Address! All logos are drawn by the uber famous tattoo artist Joe Allhoff who passes time between drawing our logos at Trader Bob's Tattoo Shop!
