Inspired by the rustic farmhouse-style Saisons of Southern Belgium, this week's feature - Perennial's Regalia Brett Saison - is sturdy, complex and aged to perfection!
About the Brewery
The Perennial philosophy is to brew beer with the adventurous craft beer drinker in mind. Founders Phil & Emily Wymore & their crew focus on small, hand-crafted batches of beer & use local, seasonal and organic ingredients as much as possible. Their brews are influenced mostly by Belgian and American craft styles, but the addition of premium ingredients such as fruits, spices or wild yeast strains sometimes causes the beers to defy traditional categories.
Perennial also has a barrel aging program that features beers aged in wine and spirits barrels, ranging from a Rye barrel-aged Mexican Chocolate Stout to a wild yeast fermented Saison aged on Missouri wine grapes in French oak wine barrels. Brewmaster Phil strives to achieve balance with each of the recipes, making Perennial beers exceptional with food.
About the Beer
This one happens to be a favorite of Ben, our craft beer manager & resident beer enthusiast. It's made with a specific strain of Brett yeast called Brettanomyces Anomala, which actually gives off tropical fruit flavors as it ages, rather than the traditional sour, earthy, barnyard-like flavors. 8.5% ABV & aged to perfection. Enjoy!
