  • Week of 3/23/15 - Brewer's Alley IPA

brewer alley ipa hq bottle Try Brewer's Alley IPA, a beautiful, award-winning English-style IPA!

Brewer's Alley is located in Frederick County, Maryland (practically Kysela's back yard) and was Frederick's first brew pub. For over 153 years, Brewer’s Alley was a fixture in the social and economic landscape of Frederick. Beer production in its original location ceased in 1901, when a large fire consumed the brewery owned by John Kuhn, the last in a long line of brewers to occupy space along the banks of Carroll Creek. Ninety-five years after leaving Frederick, Brewer’s Alley is back! The doors opened in 1996, and great brews & meals have been served there ever since.

This India Pale Ale strikes a beautiful balance between assertive hop bitterness and caramel maltiness. It's got an earthy & herbal hop aroma & a slight amber hue. Like its English cousins, this medium bodied IPA is layered with flavors, that invite the drinker to take another sip.

Contact your Kysela Pere et Fils, LTD. sales representative, state distributor, or local retailer to order Brewer's Alley IPA!

  • Week of 4/20/15 - Sneaky Pete Imperial IPA

laughing dog sneaky pete hq bottle Here's something to celebrate - we just got a fresh batch of our house beer, Sneaky Pete Imperial IPA!

In 2011, when Kysela's craft beer business was really starting to take off, they decided to create their own "house" label & brew. Fran Kysela worked with Fred Colby of Laughing Dog Brewing to introduce Sneaky Pete - a complex, rich, flavorful Imperial IPA. It started as a limited selection for spring & summer, but after quickly rising to the top and gaining fans all over the country (it's a got a 97 overall rating on ratebeer.com!), we had to start making it year round!

Sneaky Pete is slightly re-formulated each year, with an eye toward improving an already great beer. This year's brew received an extended dry hopping, which yielded a huge hit of citrus notes up front. It has a copious aroma of white grapefruit, citrus overtones, a complex rich middle and long flavors in the finish. To top it off, its finished with wild clover honey. This beer is a true beauty!

  • Week of 7/13/15 - Escutcheon Plimsoll IPA

escutcheon glassWe're celebrating over here at Kysela, because delicious and refreshing quality craft beer is being made right in our backyard! We're excited to be distributing the brews from Winchester's own Escutcheon Brewing Co., and this week we're featuring their Plimsoll IPA.

Escutcheon Brewing Co. was founded by John Hovermale and Art Major, two friends who really, really love good craft beer. John, a master brewer, began at the Siebel Institute in Illinois more than fifteen years ago and has worked for breweries in Vermont, Maryland and Mississippi. John's beer knowledge & experience combined with Art's successful entrepreneurial skills, along with both guys' passion passion and drive to create good beer, were the perfect ingredients to build Escutcheon Brewing Co. The marine industrial names and logos, and the design of their taproom, are a nod to Art's time in the Merchant Marine.

Plimsoll is Escutcheon's flagship IPA. Foreign and domestic malts build the backbone of this copper colored elixir, while copious additions of three hop varieties leave it with clean crisp citrusy aroma. 6.7% ABV; 70 IBU; Apollo, Chinook, and Lemon Drop hops. A tried-and-true classic that's great with grilled steak, sausage dishes and BBQ.

Contact your Kysela Pere et Fils, LTD. sales representative, state distributor, or local retailer to order Escutcheon Plimsoll IPA! Available in draft.
