Vina Mein O Pequeno Mein Ribeiro Blanco
Vina Mein
Spain - Galicia - Ribeiro

Grapes are coming from 12 small plots across just 40 acres of land with varying slopes and aspects that allow the grapes to benefit from different sun exposures and that thrive in the ´´Sábrego´´ soil: unique to this region and comprised of decomposed granite, sand and clay.

An aromatic, vibrant and intense white with a pleasant finish. Precise and careful viticulture and a unique blend of native varieties, Treixadura, Godello, Albariño and Torrontés, express the diversity and richness of Ribeiro – one of the most prolific winemaking regions in Spain since the 11th century.

2020 Vina Mein O Pequeno Mein Ribeiro Blanco - 90 PTS - WA

2020 Vina Mein O Pequeno Mein Ribeiro Blanco - 90 PTS - WA

wa91"2020 was a very challenging year, a year of mildew, and the 2020 O Pequeno, the second white wine, has a full 1% less alcohol than the 2019 and similar acidity, a different wine from 2019, with a nice midpalate, structure and freshness, lighter than 2019. It matured in tank for eight months. The nose is still redolent of sulfur and feels a little reductive, so you have to guide yourself by the palate, especially the mouthfeel and texture. It's round and soft, with moderate acidity. It finishes dry and with a faint bitter twist. Give it a bit more time. 22,000 bottles and 3,000 magnums were produced. It was bottled in May 2021. - Luis GUTIERREZ"

2019 Vina Mein O Pequeno Mein Ribeiro Blanco - 91 PTS - WA

2019 Vina Mein O Pequeno Mein Ribeiro Blanco - 91 PTS - WA

wa91"The range has changed, and there is a first and second wine, at least in white. The white 2019 O Pequeno (meaning "the small one" in the Gallego language) is like a second white born from the most accessible lots. It's a blend of Treixadura with some Godello, Torrontés and Albariño from their organically and biodynamically farmed (but not certified) vineyards, mostly on decomposed granite and sand with some clay. The whole clusters were pressed and the juice put to ferment in stainless steel, where the wine matured for nine months. It has a nuanced nose that combines herbs, moss and wet stones and a dry and austere palate that is serious and showcases the granularity of the granite soils, beautifully textured with integrated acidity. They were lucky with a good first harvest, when they vinified everything separately  to understand the different plots and varieties, and in the following years, they were already guided by this. This first year was truly a blending exercise. 17,000 bottles and 3,000 magnums were produced. It was bottled in June 2020. - Luis GUTIERREZ"
