Vinification
Our ancestors planted these vines of viura and malvasía in the so-called "cabezadas", the highest and poorest areas of its vineyards. This wine is the result of an exhaustive selection of vines and grapes, within that old vineyard. A wine with subtle aromas that reveal the personality of the clay-calcareous soils, characteristic of this area of Rioja Alavesa. Manual harvest in boxes and double selection on the sorting table.
Alcoholic fermentation in French and American oak barrels, 225L and 500L capacity, with integrated temperature control system. Later aging on lees with bâtonnage (lees steering) for five months. Batonnage is carried out regularly during the 5 months ageing on the lees, the wine is then fined with isinglass and bottled.

jeb dunnuck logo 250"Clean citrus, reductive matchstick, crushed stone, and white flower notes all emerge from the 2022 Rioja Blanco Vinas Viejas, an incredibly well-made, balanced white that has a layered mouthfeel, building richness, and a clean, crisp, mineral-laced, almost salty finish. It will be a dream with tapas or as a starter. The blend is 85% Viura, 10% Malvasia, and the rest Tempranillo Blanco."

i winereview logo"Pale straw. A beautifully balanced, oak-fermented Viura blend revealing a fresh, bright bouquet of tropical citrus. Lively on    the attack with good flavor density, a round palate and bright acidity, finishing long and rich. Very nice! This blend of Viura with Malvasia and Tempranillo Blanco is sourced from old vines (57 years on average), fermented and aged in French and American oak with 6 months battonage."

tim atkin logo 250"Parcels with an average age of 58 years supply the grapes for this stylishly wooded blend of Viura with 10% Malvasía. Dense, but not overpowering, with lime and orange peel flavours, subtle oak spices and a waxy mid palate. Drink 2022 to 2025."

vinous logo"Bright straw-yellow. Mineral-accented pear, peach pit and Meyer lemon aromas are complemented by hints of fennel and vanilla. Taut and focused on the palate, offering nervy citrus and orchard fruit flavors that spread out steadily on the back half. Finishes long and tight, with a repeating mineral note and a lingering bitter pear skin note. - Josh Raynolds"
