2016 Domaine de la Bégude Bandol Rouge - 92 PTS - WE

wine enthusiast 92 pts"From one of the showpiece estates in Bandol, this wine is well structured, rich in tannins but also rich in blackberry flavors. It has weight and spicy concentration, while the 18 months in wood has smoothed and brought life to the structure. Drink the wine from 2022. - Roger Voss."

wine enthusiast 93 pts"This wine has the perfumes of the wild garrigue and forests that surround the vineyards at this estate. Its exotic character contrasts with the firm tannins and dense texture. It is a profound wine, richly structure, full of black-plum-skin and blueberry flavors. Drink this wine from 2021. - Roger Voss."

jeb dunnuck logo 250"The 2015 Begude Bandol is a step up and is comprised of 90% Mourvèdre and 10% Grenache aged in oak casks. It’s deeper and richer, with an almost Northern Rhône-like gaminess in its smoke, black fruits, peppery herbs, and meaty aromas and flavors. With full-bodied richness and ripe tannic structure, drink it over the coming 15 years or more."

wine enthusiast 94 pts"This is an impressively rich, still very young wine. Dominated by Bandol's own Mourvèdre grape, it is dense and concentrated. Spice and dark red fruits are shot through with a wonderful herbal character that conjures the southern warmth. The wine is still just setting out and will not be ready to drink before 2019.. -R.V."

wine enthusiast 94 ptswine enthusiast cellar selection 2016 logo"This impressive wine has a perfumed character, almost smelling and tasting of the wild garrigue and forest that makes up much of the La Bégude estate. It also holds a well-wrought tannic side, dark and solid, packed with black currant and berry fruits. It will age for many years and should not be drunk before 2019. -R.V."

wine enthusiast 94 pts"Generous and opulent, this is a wine that has both fine perfume and ripe black-fruit flavors. There is a deliciously juicy element to the wine, yet it's balanced with ample acidity. With its attractive, herbal edge, this is a wine that can age. Drink from 2016. -R.V."
