2018 Domaine des Bernardins Muscat de Beaumes de Venise VDN - 91 PTS - DECANTER

decanter logo 250"Pale orange colour. Confit orange, orange blossom, lychee, a touch of brown sugar. On the palate it is exceptionally full-bodied, with acidity a little on the low side. There's firm bitterness on the finish, and it lacks the freshness of some years, if not the depth. Long finish. It really coats the mouth with sweetness and flavour. Handpicked, all pressed immediately and fermented in stainless steel without any skin contact. Wine is aged in stainless steel for six months after adding the fortifying spirit."

tastings 2019 gold"Steely orange color. Aromas of ripe peach, honey-drizzled apricot, golden raisins, and lime peel with a round, crisp, sweet light-to-medium body and a smooth, interesting, medium-length orange blossom water and chamomile tea finish. A bright Beaumes de Venise Blanc that offers delicate notes of dried fruit and honey."

wa92"Slightly rose-tinted, the 2017 Muscat de Beaumes de Venise isn't the most aromatic example of this wine style, but it's rich, full-bodied and decadently sweet. Honeyed berries, nectarine and citrus fruits finish long and soft. While some previous vintages have been cloying, this one gets the balance right. - Joe Czerwinski"

decanter logo 250"Hand-picked fruit is pressed immediately and fermented in stainless steel without any skin contact. The wine is then aged in stainless steel for six months after adding the fortifying spirit. It has an enticing satsuma-skin aroma, grapey and slightly waxy. It's very full-bodied but has the intensity of fruit, acidity and bitterness to bring balance and freshness. A particularly concentrated vintage with real impact. Drinking Window 2020 - 2022"

wine enthusiast 89 pts"Made from a blend of 75% white and 25% black Muscat à petits grains, this light-footed vin doux naturel presents inviting whiffs of raspberry and caramel. Apricot, berry and white-blossom notes on the palate are concentrated and a touch candied in character. There's a tinge of alcoholic warmth throughout but this is a charmingly sweet and fruity tipple. Enjoy now–2022. - ANNA LEE C. IIJIMA"
