Casir dos Santos Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
Casir dos Santos
Argentina - Mendoza    - Uco Valley

This Cabernet Sauvignon is from two different areas in Valle de Uco: San José (3,400 ft elevation) and Gualtallary (3,900 ft elevation). We choose a terroir along the side of Los Andes in Tupungato, Gualtallary to grow this complex Cabernet Sauvignon.

Intense and very attractive, the integration of fruit and wood offers an exquisite balance. The nose is packed with ripe red cherry and plum,
blackcurrant and spicy notes. Well-structured with long-lingering tannins and a soft mineral flavor.

This wine perfectly reflects the Uco Valley terroir and its balance between fruit and complexity.

james suckling hq logo plain"A good introduction to Argentine cabernet sauvignon, thanks to its vibrant blueberries and fullish, supple body. The soft tannins have a chocolatey edge and fill out the medium-full body nicely. Drink now."

vinous logo"(13.9% alcohol): Bright medium ruby. Pungent, high-toned aromas of blackberry, black pepper, licorice pastille and spices, plus a faint weedy nuance. Sweeter and plusher in the mouth than the nose suggests, but still with a pungent licorice-and-pepper quality to its dark berry flavors. A bit disjointed owing to its combination of somewhat herbal flavors and thick, smooth texture but the tannins are harmonious and fine-grained. I'd like to see this again in a year or two. - Stephen Tanzer"

vinous logo"Bright medium ruby. Pungent aromas of cassis, licorice pastille and herbs are less minty and weedy than those of the 2014 Reserve Malbec. Moderately dense and juicy, with its fine-grained, well-delineated blackberry, cassis, licorice and bitter chocolate flavors conveying good energy. I marked this down a bit for its slightly underripe/overripe combination of greenness and nuttiness, but it's clearly sweeter than the Malbec. Finishes with dusty tannins. - Stephen Tanzer"
