tim atkin logo 250"Built on a foundation of Malbec, with support from 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot, Conjuro is a new oak-aged cuvée from Gualtallary. Stylish, herbal and deftly wooded, with mint and green herb aromas, cassis and blackberry fruit and plenty of acidity and structure. 2024-32"

vinous logo"The 2016 Bressia Conjuro is half Malbec with 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot from the Uco Valley and was aged for 18 months in new French barrels. The cool year sets the tone in the nose with austere aromas of fresh plum, herbs and spices. The aging process’ contribution takes the form of sweet spices. The freshness combines with a voluminous flow in the mouth that delivers generous but measured helpings of flavor along with the pleasantly grippy tannins. The finish is built around an unusual degree of freshness that lends extra tension and depth. - Joaquín Hidalgo"

tim atkin logo 250"Conjuro is one of the top reds from the Bressias, all sourced from Gualtallary and made with Malbec, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot. Firm, aromatic and showing lovely top notes of wild thyme and lavender, this is a structured, serious, richly oaked cuvée that still needs more time in bottle."

wa91"There are lots of roasted aromas in the nose of the 2015 Conjuro, a blend of 50% Malbec, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot, with 14.8% alcohol and soft acidity. It's round and lush with some creaminess and still marked by its aging in 100% new French oak for 18 months. At the end of the day, it still comes through as quite oaky. 3,500 bottles produced. - Luis Gutiérrez"

tim atkin logo 250"Sourced from a single vineyard in Gualtallary, Conjuro is a cuvée of Malbec with 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot that spends 18 months in new French and American oak. It’s a stylish, intense, spicy wine with deftly handled oak and layers of red cherry and blueberry fruit. 2019-26"

"Ripe aromas of blackberry, herbs and spices open this blend of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The palate is saturated but kicking, with tannic bite. Peppery blackberry and cassis flavors are slightly stalky before dissipating on a brisk finish. Drink now. - MICHAEL SCHACHNER"

wa"The red blend 2014 Conjuro is 50% Malbec, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot with 14.5% alcohol and soft acidity, still quite marked by its élevage in new French barriques for 18 months. There is contained ripeness, and the wine doesn't seem strong enough for that much new oak. It comes through as quite oaky, with showy aromas but lacking a bit in the middle. 4,500 bottles produced. - Luis Gutiérrez"

vinous logo"Bright medium ruby. Fresh aromas of black raspberry, chocolate and minerals. Plush, rich and mouthfilling; fatter than the 2015 Bressia Profundo but without quite the definition or lift of that wine. This is more powerful but less complex and expressive; it's technically slightly higher in acidity but I never would have guessed. Finishes with a bit less energy and grip. (aged for 18 months in new Taransaud barrels). - Stephen Tanzer"

descorchados2018 logo"This year, Conjuro is 50% Malbec, grapes from Agrelo and Vista Flores, Bressias’s preferred and primary sources for this variety. Where Cabernet and Merlot are concerned, they went to the higher parts of Gualtallary to get the grip that’s clearly present here. It’s pretty impressive to see how this wine has evolved: from a heavy, very ripe red to where it is today, a red fruit focused blend, best defined as medium to light bodied, but at the same time with enormous length, which is, at the end of the day, what matters. Wines with length more than breadth. and enough acidity to brighten a meal, that’s what it’s all about."

wa93"The pricey 2013 Conjuro is an impressive blend of 50% Malbec, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot that felt lighter and more balanced than in previous years, with sweetness from the tannins and oak-derived flavors and aromas. It has herbal and spice notes from the Cabernet and Merlot and round, juicy tannins after 18 months in new French barriques. I wonder how this blend would be with less new oak... 3,500 bottles were filled in December 2016.- Luis Gutiérrez"

vinous logo"(14% alcohol; aged for 18 months in new Taransaud barrels): Healthy red-ruby. Complex, sexy aromas and flavors of black fruits, mocha, brown spices, tobacco leaf, licorice and flowers. Wonderfully broad and savory on entry, then ripe and sweet in the middle palate; not especially fleshy or outsized but intense and aromatic in the mouth. The very long finish features firm but well-integrated tannins and sexy spices. Classic Gualtallary energy here--and the spine to evolve gracefully for another decade. - Stephen Tanzer"

vinous logo"aged for 18 months in new French oak): Full medium ruby. Blackberry, licorice and spicy oak on the youthfully clenched nose; more brooding than the 2012 Profundo and perhaps more minerally as well. Juicy, lively cassis, licorice, herb and spice flavors are complicated by a bitter chocolate nuance and lifted by a note of violet on the back. This shows a thicker texture and greater sweetness than the Profundo but is not at all a fleshpot. Brisk acidity and a firm spine of ripe tannins should keep it going for years. Really fills the mouth without leaving any impression of heaviness.- Stephen Tanzer"

wa91"The top of the range red, the 2012 Conjuro is a blend of 50% Malbec, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot from the Valle de Uco aged in new French oak barrels for 18 months. 2012 was a warm, ripe vintage with healthy grapes, and the wine shows it. There are plenty of notes of cinnamon and vanilla, and some smoky and balsamic notes reminiscent of incense. The palate is full-bodied, and the effect of the élevage is still pretty obvious, with abundant, slightly dry tannins and a remarkable, intense finish. An XXL red that needs time in bottle and powerful food. - Luis Gutiérrez"

The palate on this blend of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot is dense but light on its feet. Flavors of oaky raspberry, cassis and cocoa powder finish toasty, rooty and with a fine feel. Wine Advocate 92 Pts"The 2009 Conjuro is a blend of 50% Malbec, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot aged for 18 months in new French oak barrels. It has a strong influence from the oak and the Bordeaux grapes also come through quite strong, resulting in an herbal, smoky, spicy character with abundant notes of aniseed and licorice. The palate is extremely powerful, full-bodied and intense, yet it feels balanced. A bodybuilder of a blend. 2,500 bottles produced. I’d opt for giving it a little more time in bottle. Drink 2015-2020."
