2019 Chakana Estate Torrontes Orange Wine - 94 PTS - TA

tim atkin logo 250"Right up there with my favourite orange wines in Argentina, this is a Torrontés that spent eight months on its skins but is so well made that it didn’t extract excessive bitterness from a grape that has tannin to spare. Egg-fermented and aged in old wood, it’s a salty, assertive, grippy white with quince and orange zest flavours and a refreshing, low-alcohol finish. 2020-24"

2020 Chakana Estate Torrontes Orange Wine - 89 PTS - VINOUS

vinous logo"The 2020 Torrontés Chakana Estate Selection Maceración Prolongada combines grapes from Paraje Altamira and Gualtallary, both in the Uco Valley, and spent nine months in concrete eggs with skins. Murky gold in color. The unusual aromatic profile features basil and herbs and traces of ripe satsuma over a bed of yeast and resin. Sharp and dry in the mouth, it features tannins that keep things compact and stretch out the flavor. An earnest wine, better on the nose than in the mouth. - Joaquín Hidalgo"

"Winemakers are still searching for new expressions of Torrontés. In this case, the wine was macerated with its skin for eight months, resulting in a medium-bodied and citrusy wine. Notes of pear, green apple, ripe lemon and orange zest mingle on the palate. It has an herbaceous aftertaste and moderate acidity. — Jesica VARGAS"

The aromatic profile includes basil, bitter orange and a hint of melon. It’s dry and rugged in the mouth with balanced, expressive flavor, and the finish lingers at length. tim atkin logo 250"Sourced from a 40-year-old pergola in El Peral, this naturally fermented Torrontés spent nine months on skins in concrete eggs. Sappy and stony, with some subtle struck match reduction, fennel and orange zest flavours and a vibrant finish. 2022-26"

2022 Chakana Singular Torrontes de Maceracion Prolongada - 89 PTS - VINOUS

vinous logo"The 2022 Torrontés Singular Singular comes from Paraje Altamira, Uco Valley. Cloudy orange in the glass. The muscat nose presents hints of linden and orange blossom and a nutmeg whiff. Intense and dry in the mouth, the texture is grippy from the maceration with skins, while the taut acidity produces a cleansing palate. Somewhere between rustic and knowingly geeky. The hippest of all the Torrontés made by Chakana.- Joaquín Hidalgo"
