Rich, tactile and saline in the mouth, showing more sweetness than energy and definition. Impressively lush but also very ripe and a bit aggressive. Where can this wine go in bottle?

The 2008 Conjuro has a lifted, opulent bouquet of macerated red cherries, raspberry and wild strawberry that is very well-defined and seductive. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, succulent red fruit, seamlessly integrated oak and a supple, harmonious, elegant finish. Drink 2013-2025. - NM

"The 2009 Conjuro is a blend of 50% Malbec, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot aged for 18 months in new French oak barrels. It has a strong influence from the oak and the Bordeaux grapes also come through quite strong, resulting in an herbal, smoky, spicy character with abundant notes of aniseed and licorice. The palate is extremely powerful, full-bodied and intense, yet it feels balanced. A bodybuilder of a blend. 2,500 bottles produced. I’d opt for giving it a little more time in bottle. Drink 2015-2020."

"The top of the range red, the 2012 Conjuro is a blend of 50% Malbec, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot from the Valle de Uco aged in new French oak barrels for 18 months. 2012 was a warm, ripe vintage with healthy grapes, and the wine shows it. There are plenty of notes of cinnamon and vanilla, and some smoky and balsamic notes reminiscent of incense. The palate is full-bodied, and the effect of the élevage is still pretty obvious, with abundant, slightly dry tannins and a remarkable, intense finish.
