Erdutski vinogradi is located on the gentle slopes of Daljska Planina mountain along the Danube River, which floods Erdut and makes it a peninsula. In ideal conditions for grape growing - at an altitude of between 130 and 190 meters, gently sloping to the south, on loess deposits, is the largest plantation vineyard in Croatia. Erdutski vinogradi cultivates 450 hectares of its own vineyards, and is also the largest single vineyard in Croatia.
The entire vineyard, including the Erdut vineyards, is dominated by white varieties, which cover 75% of the area. The dominant variety is Graševina. A total of 280 hectares are planted with Graševina.
Erdut Vineyards got their name from the location of Erdut, a small town on the Danube in Slavonia where our vineyards and cellars are located.
The history of Vina Erdut dates back to the beginning of the 18th century. In 1730 the then owner Baron Johann Baptista Maximilian Zuany constructed the Old cellar, which is the oldest cellar in the hills of Erdut. This year is thought to be the beginning of the wine-making tradition of Vina Erdut and the Erdut region.
The tradition of participating in international wine shows was initiated in 1855 when Ivan Kapistran II Adamovich Čepinski exhibited a crate with 12 bottles of Erdut wine at the Paris World Fair.
Fanny pl. Adamovich Čepinska was the first member of the family to settle permanently in Erdut, and in the mid-19th century she built a small castle there, which took on its final appearance in the second half of the century.
The castle then acquired a representative purpose, as it became the place of residence of a prominent businessman, great prefect, minister, chamberlain and imperial-royal advisor, her husband Ervin pl. Cseh.
