100% Carignano. The grapes come from 1,500 plants obtained by over-grafting carried out in 2019 on a 14-year-old vineyard previously cultivated with
white grapes varieties. 750 plants were over-grafted with genetic material coming from old plants found in the vineyards, and 750 plants with genetic material coming from an old vineyard located in Neoneli. Maceration on the skin for 18 days. Aged 12 months in cement and 15 months in bottle.
Among Antonio Camillo's wines, this pure Carignano deserves a special mention. It is a rarity in Tuscany, but a common grape variety in neighboring Sardinia. Compared to Sardinian models, here the wine is more relaxed, and the Tuscan terroir adds its own personal touch, enhancing notes of violet and cherry reminiscent of Sangiovese, followed by darker, meatier notes that bring it closer to the Sardinian model. Dark fruits, thyme, fennel, and a slight hint of leather, followed by cinnamon, helichrysum, and rosemary, with a taste of black cherries and horseradish and unusual and intriguing vegetal notes. The palate is broad, with pleasant bursts of sweetness and lightness, without annoying tannins, but rather capable of streamlining and revitalizing the whole.
Grane is the name given by the farmers of the Maremma region to the Carignano grape variety because of the granite-like texture of its berries.
