Blended from three sites on the Central Coast, one in San Benito County, one in Monterey County, and one in Santa Clara County, our La Marea Grenache showcases a variety that we believe is tailor- made for the Central Coast. Grenache is drought tolerant, needs deficient soils to excel, and requires more sunshine than heat to ripen while maintaining acidity and balance. Soils in these vineyards range from calcareous clay to calcareous sandstone shale to granitic alluvium. In each instance, the vineyard shows a different shade of grenache which combine for a wine of depth and drinkability.

A delicate ruby color that leans in, aromatically, to pine resin, allspice, black currants and eucalyptus. This is underlain by gamey, black pepper and umami notes. On the palate the firm tannins lead to flavors of graphite, cedar shavings, cocoa powder and plumb. The color belies the body and complexity of this wine as it is still young and taught with plenty of spice and fruit to give.
