Trione Henry's Blend Alexander Valley
Trione
United States - California - Sonoma County

Essence of brambly wild berries are the first impression on the nose. A silky soft palate entry with a well-knit tannin structure, supple yet with form and substance. This wine evolves in the glass from subtle fruit aromatics to ever evolving notes of cedar, plum, allspice and black currant.

35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 13% Petit Verdot, 13% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec
Vinification
The grapes were all hand harvested, sorted and sent directly to small open top fermentation tanks. The fermentations were done using a unique cap irrigation device that brings in air as the free-run juice is being circulated over the cap during the peak of fermentation. This technique ensures the binding of tannins with the color compounds found in the grapes as well as maximizing proper yeast cell health and viability.
The wine aged 18 months in French oak barrels (40% new) from coopers Taransaud, Vicard and TW Boswell.

tasting panel logo"Comprised of 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 13% Petit Verdot, 13% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Malbec, this is a blend that’s greater than the sum of its parts. That’s a rare judgment on my part, as Cabernet Sauvignon can produce gloriously complete wines on its own from top North Coast appellations, but this does indeed draw some extra textural fleshiness from the Merlot component while also deriving interesting aromatic and flavor nuances from the other varieties. Already very well integrated, this will become even more complex with aging, but is showing beautifully now. It could easily stand up to a grilled steak, but could also play nicely with a roasted duck. That’s impressive versatility."

james suckling hq logo plain"This is a rich and flavorful red with aromas of plums, currants, mocha, cloves and burnt sage. Fleshy and textured, with a full body and polished, broad tannins. Lovely creamy texture, with a long and toasty finish. 35% cabernet sauvignon, 34% merlot, 13% petit verdot, 13% cabernet franc and 5% malbec. Drink now or hold."

james suckling hq logo plain"An inviting, herbaceous nose of thyme and sage with notes of black cherries and plums as well. Medium-to full-bodied with sandy tannins. Really clean, with bright red fruit shifting into more savory, dark-chocolate and leather character. Rather well done. Drink now."

tasting panel somm journal logo"Each component of this rich small-production blend of 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 13% Petit Verdot, 13% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Malbec fermented and aged separately; they were then blended after 12 months. It's highlighted by lush, sumptuous, violet-kissed black fruit as well as notes of leather, chocolate, and white pepper."

jeb dunnuck logo 250"This is a blend of 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and 34% Merlot, with smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Tones of clove, cassis and blackberry jam carry the effusive palate, with a floral accent adding lift. - VIRGINIE BOONE"

jeb dunnuck logo 250"Blackberries, roasted herbs, violets, and a touch of crushed stone-like minerality emerge from the 2015 Henry's Blend, a rounded, nicely textured, delicious effort. With good acidiay and moderate tannins, it should evolve for 7-8 years, if not longer."
